Looking over Betting Markets for Top European Football Leagues

Football is back! All of Europe’s top domestic football leagues are set to resume action this week – and the fans are the real winners.

As we’ve discussed on these pages before, the money being wagered on football results is increasing by the week and year. The 2019/20 European football season is set to be a big one, with some fascinating battles to play out in the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga and more. Fans who want to try and win some money, can bet on all the European football leagues with totesport free bets and other betting offers.

English Premier League a Race of Two

The last English Premier League season was a race between Manchester City and Liverpool, with City having to wait until the last day of the season to confirm their title. It looks like the 2019/20 EPL season will again be a two-horse race, with bet365 offering tight odds for the two top contenders – and long odds for everyone else.

According to the latest odds, City is paying 1/2 and Liverpool 13/5 for the premiership. Then it’s daylight to the four other realistic contenders, Tottenham, 16/1, Chelsea, 33/1, Man United 40/1, and Arsenal, 66/1. It seems bookmakers have barely learnt the lesson of Leicester City’s famous 5,000/1 premiership run in 2015/16. The team with the longest odds, Sheffield United, is paying 2,500/1.

If you’re sick of City and Liverpool, then we have good news for you: bet365 has odds on the English Premier League 2019/20 without Liverpool and Man City. Tottenham is the favourite to finish best of the rest, at 6/4 odds, followed by Man United 10/3 and Chelsea, both 10/3, and Arsenal, 5/1. Then come Wolves, Everton, and Leicester, all 25/1, and West Ham, 66/1. Poor old Sheffield United isn’t in with a shot at all and is paying 1,000/1.

Three-Way Race in Spain’s Primera Liga

The 2018/19 Spanish La Liga turned out to be a bit of a fizzer, with Barcelona drawing away from its two Madrid rivals to run out easy 11-point winners. The 2019/20 season is shaping up as a close one, with Barca and the two Madrid giants again expected to compete in a three-way battle for Spain’s greatest footballing prize.

Boyle Sports has all the latest odds for the 2019/20 version of the Spanish Primera Liga. Barcelona leads the way on 4/6, followed by Real Madrid, 6/4, and Atletico Madrid, 12/1. Nobody else is in realistic contention for the domestic title. Fourth in the odds is Valencia, on 80/1, then comes Sevilla, 150/1, and all other contenders are paying 400/1 or more. The lowest team in the odds, Granada, is paying 2,000/1 at Boyle and as much as 3,000/1 at some other bookmakers.

Bayern Backed to Win Eight Straight Bundesliga

Last year’s German Bundesliga also went down to the final matchday of the season, with Bayern Munich beating Borussia Dortmund to capture their seventh straight title. While Dortmund are the main contender to Bayern’s supremacy, the latest betting odds suggest Bayern Munich is likely to win its eight straight domestic title.

Here are the latest Paddy Power Bundesliga odds: Bayern, 2/9, Dortmund, 9/2, RB Leipzig, 16/1, Bayer Leverkusen, 40/1, all other contenders 100/1 plus. Unlike the Premier League, the Bundesliga has only four realistic contenders this year. However, its minnows look better, with eight clubs – including newly promoted FC Union Berlin – tied in last position at 500/1 odds.
