The English Premier League<\/a> season is\nrapidly drawing to a close and it looks set to be one of the closest ever,\nparticularly when you consider all aspects of the league. Who will emerge\nvictorious? Will Manchester City claim back to back titles, or will Liverpool\nend the near 30 year wait for a First Division triumph? Which of the four teams\nin the next pack down will claim third and fourth to clinch Champions League<\/a> football next season? And\nfinally, which sides will slump to relegation? It\u2019s all to play for so let\u2019s\nmake some bets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the top, it\u2019s a two horse race<\/a> for the crown. Manchester City would appear to be an unstoppable\njuggernaut whilst Liverpool have shown signs of the pressure getting to them;\nthe cracks are there for all to see and a two-goal win over lowly Burnley isn\u2019t\nnearly enough to paper over them. City are odds on for good reason but back\nthem now and there is still a decent return to be had. If you wait for a couple\nmore matchdays to pass by then it\u2019s likely those odds will get worse and worse\nas the finale looms nearer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Down the bottom Huddersfield and Fulham are sinking\nwithout much of a fight despite the fact both have sacked managers hoping to\ngenerate a springboard. Goals win games and the Terriers are rock bottom\nbecause of the fact they can\u2019t find the net. They simply won\u2019t get out trouble.\nThey\u2019re heavy odds on to end the season in 20th<\/sup> position and whilst\nit\u2019s poor odds in a betting market, it\u2019s somewhat better than investing in a\nsavings account, the interest is as good as guaranteed (although I won\u2019t be\nliable if a miracle does happen). Fulham have turned in some positive\nperformances without achieving the results they\u2019d have liked and so remain\ndoomed to relegation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means the relegation battle ultimately comes\ndown to one spot \u2013 who will end up in the dreaded spot? The odds say Cardiff.\nIt\u2019s hard to disagree. Boost your odds by backing a straight relegation treble\n\u2013 Huddersfield bottom, Fulham second and Cardiff third. Southampton and Burnley\nremain heavily in the mix though, but the Saints have improved under Ralph\nHasenhuttl and Burnley, particularly under Sean Dyche, can grind out results\nwhen they\u2019re most needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Golden Boot, awarded to the top scorer, throws\nup some interesting possibilities too. Sergio Aguero and Mo Salah, of Man City\nand Liverpool respectively, are separated by a single goal \u2013 Harry Kane and\nPierre Emerick Aubameyang also sit joint second on 17 goals \u2013 and they rightly\nhead the betting but Sadio Mane and Raheem Stirling, also of the top two teams,\nare only two and three goals away from Aguero. Their odds are much bigger and\nit\u2019s quite feasible that either of those could bang in multiple goals between\nnow and the season close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strangely, perhaps the juiciest watch will be the\nfight for the top four. Tottenham Hotspur were considered in the title race\nuntil a couple of weeks ago; since then they\u2019ve lost points like a holey bucket\nloses water and are in with a real possibility of finding themselves in the\nEuropa League next year; the ball is in their court but away trips to the\nEtihad and Anfield could prove key. Spurs\u2019 North London rivals, Arsenal, put\nthemselves in a strong position heading into the final phase following a great\nwin over Manchester United and have the easiest run in \u2013 on paper \u2013 so they\nseem a good bet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Question marks remain over Chelsea and their\nability to find consistency on the pitch and they\u2019re a mess off it. Their star\nman, Eden Hazard, looks set to move on, a transfer embargo could follow and\nthen there is what they do with the managerial position. Despite holding a\ndecent position now, it\u2019s hard to see them getting over the line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other team knocking on the door of the top four\nis Manchester United, who until Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived were completely\nout of the picture. Fast forward a few months and, if they can bounce back from\nthe Arsenal defeat, then their form could see them clinch the final place. Back\nArsenal and United for top four and you\u2019ll find good odds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
