The British Champions Day at Ascot is an occasion to be\nsavoured but also one of reflection as it marks the end of the flat racing\nseason for the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also marks that dreaded run up to Christmas with no\nescaping the influx of early festive decorations at every turn, and as you make\nyour way up Ascot high street to the track you will be inundated with a copious\nnumber of adverts promoting Santa\u2019s annual trip down your chimney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, aside from the inevitable run up to Christmas, there\nis the rather large matter of Champions Day, and that is a name that does the\nmeeting full justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Established in 2011, the Champions Day is a culmination of\nthe entire flat season series which comprises of five categories of Sprint,\nMile, Middle Distance, Long distance, and Fillies & Mares which began in\n2018 at Newmarket with the iconic 2000 Guinea\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The standard of races on show at Champions Day is cause for\ncelebration in its own right with the likes of the British Champions Sprint\nStakes, the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and of course the Champions Stakes all\nready to set the pulses racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With everything (almost) ready to go, we look at some of the\nbest horse racing tips<\/a>\nfor the Champions Stakes race at this epic meet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hear the Roar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American Roaring Lion heads into the Champions Stakes on\nserious form after a comprehensive victory at August\u2019s Juddmonte International\nStakes from York was backed up by an even more impressive win at the Irish\nChampions Stakes in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facing old adversary Saxon Warrior for the sixth time,\nRoaring Lion trained by Oisin Murphy and John Godsen sat back early on but came\nto the fore to pip Saxon Warrior over the line for a narrow victory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only thing to be wary of is the likelihood of soft\nground perhaps hampering Roaring Lion somewhat although Godsen\u2019s horse\ncertainly remains one of the star picks for the Champions Stake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ante-post has Lion at 2\/1 with some bookmakers and that\nwill most likely only shorten after entering the Irish Champions Stakes as 8\/11\nfavourite. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crystal Ocean Riding\nthe Crest of a Wave<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there is one horse that takes to Ascot like a \u2018err\u2019 duck\nto water, then it is Crystal Ocean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and owned by Sir Evelyn De\nRothschild, Crystal Ocean won this year\u2019s Hardwicke Stakes at June\u2019s Royal\nAscot and ran 1 mile 2 furlongs at Sandown earlier in the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of Crystal Ocean\u2019s main traits is his ability to adapt\nto the ground and that makes him one of the smarter bets for the Champions\nStakes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially when you consider he can be picked up for around\n11\/2 Ante-post. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addeybb on the\nOutside<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those punters looking for an outsider can do worse than\nAddeybb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trained by William Haggas, Addeybb was given the summer off\nand pulled out of the Irish Champions Stakes on the day of the race but Haggas\nis keen to get his horse out again and two wins earlier in the year and\nante-post odds of 20\/1 make Addeybb one to keep a sharp eye on even if there is\na chance he will be run in the mile race instead.<\/p>\n
