Norwich face severe consequences
Norwich had an amazing campaign in the 19/19 English Championship but results haven’t followed over into the Premier League for their 19/20 journey.
The Canaries had a somewhat promising start to the season when they gave out a handful of good performances, that didn’t last long. They suffered their 15th defeat to Tottenham, drew with Newcastle last week and currently sit rock bottom of the league; six points away from safety. Are we surprised by their current position? Not really… They’ve lost 73% of their domestic away fixtures and have just one win from their previous 12 games. Not only that, they’ve managed an effortless 6 goals across those 12 games spoken off. It’s been a make or break situation for a while now and it seems like nothing is being done about it.
The very top versus rock bottom
This weekend will see title chasers and current number one team in the league Liverpool square up against relegation battlers Norwich who are bottom of the league with just 18 points. The powerhouse that is Liverpool will make the trip to East Anglia for their second clash with Norwich this term.
Their first meeting saw Liverpool destroy Norwich in a lob sided 4-1 victory but can Liverpool emulate the same success away from home? The 30 years wait for the league trophy is within 7 wins for Liverpool and a victory against Norwich would be their 25th win from 26 league games.
Form, Mentality, Numbers & Trends
- Norwich has six goals away from home this season.
- The reverse fixture earlier this season ended in a 4-1 win for Liverpool.
- Norwich has lost nine from their 12 road fixtures in the EPL.
- Liverpool scored three or more goals in 12 separate games in all competitions already this term.
- Norwich are statistically the worst defense in the EPL
- Liverpool are statistically the 2nd best offense in the EPL
The current odds for a Liverpool are obviously holding little to no value at all, finding the best price is crucial with heavy favorites such as Liverpool. Some of the best sportsbooks are offering Liverpool to win the Premier at -10,000 so you better go for some line shopping, an interesting bet is Liverpool to win the Champions at +458.
Final Thought and EFL Betting Pick
Odds by Sportsbookreview.com
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the probability of Liverpool winning this game is considerably high in comparison to Norwich. We’re literally faced with a matchup that has the worst and best team in the EPL going head to head. With such a heavy schedule I’d expect Jurgen Klopp to keep this game tight and as tireless as possible, I don’t think we’ll see 5 goals like the first fixture but I do believe Liverpool will win the fixture comfortably. (Norwich 0-2 Liverpool)
English Premier League Betting Pick: Liverpool win to nil
Odds: +128 (2.28)
Southampton vs Burnley

Southampton looking for the old formation
After suffering a drop in form before the winter-break, prior to this, Southampton’s form was exceptional; picking up results against Chelsea, Tottenham, and Leicester among others. The Saints were playing some positive football until a 4-0 hammering at Anfield steered them off track, especially at home. They’ve only managed to pick up one win in their previous four games played on home soil.
Danny Ing is accountable for a lot of Southampton’s success with his attacking mentality and never say die attitude, he’s managed to put the saints on the score list on occasions where they may have struggled without him.
Burnley: from bad to better
Burnley’s success heading into the winter break was the polar opposite of Southampton. They managed to tally up to seven points from a possible nine against Leicester, Man Utd, and Arsenal. To everyone’s surprise, Sean Dyche’s men defeated both Leicester and Manchester United away from home. They also should’ve walked away with 3 points when they were faced with Arsenal, as they were evidently the more deserving side to pick up three points on the day.
With their recent form combined with their head to record up against Southampton, Burnley should be more than confident to continue their winning ways off the South Coast this weekend.
Form, Mentality, Numbers & Trends
- At home, Burnley defeated Southampton 3-0 earlier this term.
- Burnley are undefeated in their previous 6 encounters with Southampton
- Both teams are averaging close to 1 goals per game, Burnley away from home and Southampton at home respectively.
Final Thought’s and EFL Betting Pick

Burnley’s style of play hasn’t fared well for Southampton in recent times which I expect to continue this weekend. Burnley have an aggressive, direct style of play and having taken 4 points from their previous two encounters, I think Burnley can walk away with at least one point again.
English Premier League Betting Pick: Burnley Win or Draw (Double Chance)
Odds: +110 (2.81)
